Pete Davidson’s planned return to ‘SNL’ has been squashed by the writers strike, which shut down season 48 with three episodes still to go.<\/h3>\n

Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!\u00a0Season 48 of Saturday Night Live<\/a><\/em> premiered October 1, 2022, but because of the ongoing writers strike<\/a>, the Lorne Michaels<\/a><\/strong>-created series had to wrap up early for the season. Pete Davidson<\/strong><\/a> was set to return to the show that made him famous to make his hosting debut with musical guest Lil Uzi Vert<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>on May 6. But that isn’t happening anymore, thanks to the writers strike. Kieran Culkin<\/a> <\/b>and\u00a0Jennifer Coolidge<\/a> <\/strong>were set to host the final two episodes of the season, with musical guests Labrinth<\/strong><\/a> and Foo Fighters<\/strong><\/a>, respectively, before the writers strike squashed those plans, as well.<\/p>\n

To kick off this season, Top Gun: Maverick<\/em><\/a> actor Miles Teller<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0hosted the Oct. 1 episode with Kendrick Lamar<\/strong><\/a> as the musical guest. “It\u2019s really exciting. You\u2019re working with the absolute best of the best, so you feel well taken care of, but it is, it\u2019s a lot. It\u2019s a whirlwind,” Miles told NBC4<\/em> <\/a>ahead of his big debut.<\/p>\n

This season of SNL<\/em> was missing a handful of cast members who announced their departures<\/a> from the show. Cast members Alex Moffat<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Melissa Villase\u00f1or<\/strong><\/a>, and featured player\u00a0Aristotle Athari<\/strong><\/a> exited after Season 47, along with Kate McKinnon<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Aidy Bryant<\/strong><\/a>, Kyle Mooney<\/strong><\/a>, and of course, Pete Davidson. Chris Redd<\/strong><\/a> also confirmed to PEOPLE<\/em> <\/a>that he was saying goodbye to the show in Sept. 2022.<\/p>\n

Pete Davidson rose to fame on SNL,<\/em> joining the cast in 2014 at the age of just 20. He stayed with the show eight seasons till 2022, when he announced he’d be stepping away<\/a>. He has starred in movies along the way including 2020’s The King Of Staten Island<\/em> and 2021’s Bodies Bodies Bodies<\/em><\/a> and is the star and creator of the Peacock series Bupkis<\/em>.<\/a> The May 4 release of Pete’s new show would’ve coincided with his hosting appearance on\u00a0SNL<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Outside of his work in film and television, Pete has gained a frenetic amount of public attention for his string of high-profile romances<\/a> with powerhouse women including Phoebe Dynevor<\/a><\/strong>, Kate Beckinsale,<\/strong><\/a> Cazzie David<\/strong>, Emily Ratajkowski<\/a><\/strong>, Ariana Grande<\/strong><\/a>, and of course, The Kardashians<\/em> star Kim Kardashian, <\/a><\/strong>with whom he enjoyed an epic nine-month relationship<\/a> after her split from Kanye West<\/strong>. Pete is currently dating<\/a> his Bodies Bodies Bodies<\/em> co-star Chase Sui Wonders<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
