Britney Spears&#8217; conservatorship is officially over, as the judge on the court case made the life-changing ruling during a Nov. 12 hearing.<\/h3>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-1\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-2\"><a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/celeb\/britney-spears\/\"  target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"noopener\"  ><strong>Britney Spears<\/strong><\/a>, 39, is finally free from her conservatorship. A judge made the decision to end her 13-year legal arrangement on Nov. 12, meaning the singer is now able to be in control of her $60 million estate. &#8220;The conservatorship of the person and estate of Britney Jean Spears is no longer required\u2026is hereby terminated&#8230;.in this case the court finds that this was a voluntary conservatorship and there\u2019s no need for a capacity declaration,\u201d Judge <strong>Brenda J. Penny<\/strong> said in Los Angeles County Superior Court per <a  href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/11\/12\/britney-spears-conservatorship-is-officially-over\/\"  rel=\"nofollow\"  target=\"_blank\"  ><em>Page Six<\/em><\/a>. Jamie <a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/2021\/08\/12\/britney-spears-conservatorship-jamie-spears-quits\/\"  >officially stepped down<\/a> as conservator of Britney&#8217;s estate &#8212; which includes her music and business holdings &#8212; on Aug. 12, and was replaced by certified public accountant <a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/feature\/who-is-john-zabel-britney-spears-temporary-conservator-4522812\/\"  ><strong>John Zabel<\/strong><\/a>. <strong>Jodi Montgomery<\/strong> served as conservator of her person.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-10\"><a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/2021\/11\/03\/britney-spears-feelings-end-of-conservatorship-hearing\/\"  >Britney&#8217;s conservatorship<\/a> began in 2008, following a psychiatric hold at UCLA Medical Center where she underwent mental evaluation. In February of that year, Jamie formally requested the <span style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;\">Los Angeles Country Supreme Court to put Britney into an emergency temporary conservatorship, which is legally defined as judge appointed care of a responsible person (the conservator) to care for another adult (called the &#8216;conservatee&#8217;) who cannot care for himself or herself or manage his or her own finances. The situation was made permanent by Oct. 2008.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4579534\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4579534\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4579534\" src=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Britney-Spears-Conservatorship-Ends-shutter-embed.jpg?resize=620%2C924\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"924\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4579534\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Britney Spears was under a legal conservatorship for 13 years. (Shutterstock)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-11\">While Britney has remained quiet about the situation for years &#8212; even releasing albums\u00a0<em>Femme Fatale<\/em>, <em>Glory<\/em>, and performing in a highly successful Las Vegas residency show without skipping a beat &#8212; curious fans took to social media to share their concerns about Britney&#8217;s legal situation. The #FreeBritney movement was eventually born out of a podcast dubbed <em>Britney&#8217;s Gram<\/em>, prompting the pop star to finally acknowledge that she had been kept under the conservatorship <a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/2021\/09\/30\/britney-spears-work-music-plans-after-jamie-suspension\/\"  >against her will<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-12\">The Louisiana native <a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/2021\/06\/23\/britney-spears-wants-baby-court-hearing-conservatorship\/\"  >addressed her concerns<\/a> in two back-to-back court hearings in June and July 2021. &#8220;I haven\u2019t been back to court in a long time, because I don\u2019t think I was heard on any level when I came to court the last time&#8230;.The people who did that to me should not be able to walk away so easily,&#8221; she said in front of a judge, where she also alleged she was &#8220;forced&#8221; to work and unable to remove an IUD to have more children. &#8220;I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive&#8230;.I don\u2019t feel like I can live a full life,&#8221; she also said in June.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-13\">Britney has also been vocal about her situation on social media, placing blame on her mom <a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/tag\/lynne-spears\/\"  ><strong>Lynne Spears<\/strong><\/a>, 66, as well as calling out her sister <a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/celeb\/jamie-lynn-spears\/\"  target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"noopener\"  ><strong>Jamie Lynn<\/strong><\/a>, 30. \u201cPssss my dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago \u2026 but what people don\u2019t know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea !!!! I will never get those years back \u2026. she secretly ruined my life,\u201d Britney <a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/2021\/11\/02\/britney-spears-blames-mom-lynne-spears-conservatorship-ruined-life\/\"  >claimed on Nov. 2<\/a>.
