Liam’s son Liam Neeson<\/strong><\/a> has proven his range over his decades-long acting career, with nominations for an Academy Award, a British Academy Award, two Tonys and three Golden Globes. The 70-year-old Irish thespian became an action hero late in life with the Taken <\/em>series, where he rescues his kidnapped daughter. He earned his rom-com bona fides in the 2003 Christmas classic Love Actually<\/a><\/em>, which is celebrating its 19th anniversary. In that film, he plays a widower taking care of his young love-lorn son.<\/p>\n As you can see, some of Liam’s most major acting roles focus on family, so it’s no surprise he’s a dedicated dad. He raised two sons, Miche\u00e1l Richardson<\/strong>\u00a0and Daniel Neeson<\/strong><\/a>, with his late wife Natasha Richardson<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n “It\u2019s an ongoing joy being a dad. It\u2019s always a joy, but it\u2019s a joyful worry,\u201d the actor shared with Her<\/em><\/a>\u00a0magazine in 2013. \u201cNo matter what age they are, they\u2019re still going to be your little boy or your little girl. And you are a hostage to love.\u201d<\/p>\n Tragically, Natasha lost her life<\/a> due to a skiing accident in 2009. Five years later, Liam, who wed Natasha in 1994, opened up about his last words to her when he visited her in the hospital before she died. “I went to her and told her I loved her,” he recalled to 60 Minutes<\/em><\/a>. “Said, \u2019Sweetie, you\u2019re not coming back from this. You\u2019ve banged your head. It\u2019s\u2013 I don\u2019t know if you can hear me, but that\u2019s\u2013 this is what\u2019s gone down. And we\u2019re bringing ya back to New York. All your family and friends will come.\u2019”<\/p>\n Miche\u00e1l and Daniel were only teenagers at the time of their mother’s death, but they have kept her memory alive and made her proud since becoming adults. He caught the acting bug from both his parents at a young age and made\u00a0his film debut in 2013\u2019s Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. <\/em>Other notable credits include Vox Lux,<\/em>\u00a0Broken Symphony<\/em>,\u00a0Big Dogs <\/em>and Paradise. <\/em>Miche\u00e1l was even lucky enough to share the screen with his dad in\u00a02019\u2019s Cold Pursuit <\/em>and 2020\u2019s Made in Italy.<\/em><\/p>\n In 2018, Miche\u00e1l changed his last name from Neeson to Richardson to honor his late mother. \u201cI think he did the right thing,\u201d Liam told Radio Andy<\/em><\/a>\u00a0in 2020. \u201cI\u2019d hate for him to be constantly asked: \u2018Oh are you Liam Neeson\u2019s son?\u2019 So, it was a lovely gesture. Natasha\u2019s family, mother and sisters were very touched by it. I\u2019m proud of it.\u201d<\/p>\n In March 2021, Miche\u00e1l opened up<\/a> about his mother’s death to The Times<\/em><\/a>, saying it was especially difficult to deal with because if was so sudden. \u201cWhen it\u2019s unexpected and it\u2019s just a complete freak accident, it really sort of messes with your mind, whether you believe in fate or not \u2026 it can send you for a bit of a head spin,\u201d he explained, before revealing how he keeps her memory alive. \u201c[I] just latch on to the tiny little memories, whether it\u2019s her laugh or her energy in the room or her cooking,\u201d he said. \u201cI do have her films to go back and watch her in, which I\u2019m incredibly grateful for.\u201d<\/p>\n Daniel was born August 27, 1996 and also followed in his family’s footsteps as he studied acting and digital media at Tulane University.
