The 2022 awards season is in full swing, which means the Oscars are coming! The 94th Annual Academy Awards<\/a> will take place on Sunday, March 27 on ABC. Amy Schumer<\/a>, Regina Hall<\/a><\/b> and\u00a0Wanda Sykes<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>will host the ceremony, which honors the best in film over the past year. Some of the biggest stars in Hollywood such as\u00a0Kristen Stewart<\/strong><\/a>, Andrew Garfield<\/strong><\/a>, Will Smith<\/strong><\/a>, and Nicole Kidman<\/strong><\/a> are nominated for the coveted Oscar. Films like\u00a0West Side Story<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0King Richard<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0Encanto<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0Being the Ricardos<\/em><\/a>, and\u00a0Dune<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>scored several nominations, while\u00a0The Power of the Dog<\/a>\u00a0<\/i>led the pack with 12 total nominations.<\/p>\n

Of course, there’s frontrunners in each Oscars category ever year. But viewers \u2014 as well as the nominees themselves \u2014 could be in for some surprises when this year’s winners are announced on March 27. Winner: The Power Of The Dog<\/em>, Runner Up: <\/span>Coda\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

There is no denying it, CODA<\/em> has become the one to beat, especially given films momentum at other recent award shows. The film\u2019s cast took home the top prize for cast ensemble at the SAG Awards<\/a> and then won Best Picture at the Hollywood Critics Awards<\/a> a week later. Still, leading the pack with 12 overall nominations, Jane Campion<\/strong>\u2019s Western psychodrama with Benedict Cumberbatch<\/strong><\/a> and Kirsten Dunst<\/strong><\/a> has been\u00a0critical favorite since it\u2019s debut on <\/span>debut at the Venice Film Festival, has racked in sizable viewership numbers on Netflix, and if it wins, it will be the first movie from the streamer to win Best Picture.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Winner: Kenneth Branagh, <\/span>Runner Up: Jane Campion<\/span><\/h3>\n

Jane Campion<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>did a superb job directing\u00a0The Power of the Dog<\/em>. But further credit goes to\u00a0Kenneth Branagh\u00a0<\/strong>as the mastermind behind the coming-of-age British film\u00a0Belfast<\/em>. He directed the critically acclaimed project that follows a young boy’s (played by Jude Hill<\/strong>) childhood in Belfast, Northern Ireland at the start of a conflict called The Troubles.\u00a0Belfast\u00a0<\/em>features fantastic performances by Jamie Dornan<\/strong><\/a>, Judi Dench<\/strong><\/a>, and Catriona Balfe<\/strong><\/a>, but Kenneth’s directing leadership is truly what makes the film so flawless.<\/p>\n

Best Actress<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Winner: Kristen Stewart, <\/span>Runner Up: Jessica Chastain\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

All hail Kristen Stewart<\/strong><\/a>. She’s come a long way from\u00a0Twilight<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>to her critically acclaimed role as Princess Diana in\u00a0Spencer<\/em><\/a>. Kristen’s revered performance in\u00a0Pablo Larrain<\/strong>‘s psychological drama film earned the star her first-ever Oscar nomination. She also scored nomination at the Golden Globe Awards<\/a>\u00a0and at the Critics\u2019 Choice Movie Awards. However, Kristen was left off<\/a> the Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations<\/a>. She’s facing some tough competition from\u00a0Jessica Chastain<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a0The Eyes of Tammy Faye<\/em><\/a>. Jessica won for Female Actor in a Leading Role<\/a> at the SAGs, so she also stands a good chance at winning the Oscar. But on our list, Kristen remains the frontrunner.<\/p>\n

Winner: Will Smith, <\/span>Runner Up: Andrew Garfield<\/span><\/h3>\n

Everyone’s expecting\u00a0Will Smith<\/strong><\/a> to win Best Actor at this year’s Oscars. Sure,\u00a0Andrew Garfield<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>was radiant in\u00a0Tick, Tick…Boom!<\/em><\/a>, but Will completely crushed his role in\u00a0King Richard<\/em>. He plays Richard Williams, father and tennis coach of Venus<\/strong><\/a> and Serena Williams<\/strong><\/a>. Will already won at the Golden Globes<\/a> and at the SAGs this year, so it won’t be surprising if things go his way at the 2022 Oscars. He’s been nominated at the Oscars before for\u00a0Ali\u00a0<\/em><\/a>and\u00a0The Pursuit of\u00a0<\/em>Happyness<\/i>, but never won. We’re betting that changes on March 27.<\/p>\n\t\t

She plays the pivotal role of Anita, a Puerto Rican immigrant who is dating Bernando.\u00a0Ariana’s skyrocketed to fame thanks to the musical film adaptation<\/a>\u00a0and won the best supporting actress role at the SAGs. She’s up against\u00a0The Power of the Dog<\/em>‘s Kirsten Dunst<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0among others for the Oscar. But if momentum means anything, then Ariana will be victorious at the upcoming star-studded ceremony.<\/p>\n

Winner: Troy Kotsur, <\/span>Runner Up: Jesse Plemons<\/span><\/h3>\n

Coda\u00a0<\/em>breakout star\u00a0Troy Kotsur\u00a0<\/strong>is a likely winner at the 2022 Oscars. The deaf actor is on a hot streak following his historic victory<\/a> at the SAG Awards. Troy’s been celebrated for his supporting role as deaf fisherman Frank Rossi in\u00a0Coda<\/em>. The feel-good film has really resonated with viewers and critics, and that’s especially thanks to Troy. The Best Supporting Actor category will probably come down to Troy and\u00a0The Power of the Dog\u00a0<\/em>star Jesse Plemons<\/a><\/strong>. It’s a tough race, but we think Troy has the edge.<\/p>\n

Winner: ‘Dos Oruguitas’, <\/span>Runner Up: ‘No Time To Die’<\/span><\/h3>\n

Cue “Dos Oruguintas,” because the hit tune from\u00a0Encanto\u00a0<\/em>is the Best Original Song frontrunner for the 2022 Oscars.\u00a0Lin-Manuel Miranda<\/strong><\/a> is the brains behind the song sung by Sebastian Yatra<\/strong>. “Dos Oruguintas,” which is considered\u00a0Encanto<\/em>‘s best song,\u00a0is a hit for kids\u00a0and\u00a0<\/em>adults. “No Time To Die,” Billie Eilish<\/strong><\/a> and Finneas O’Connell<\/strong><\/a>‘s theme song from the\u00a0new James Bond film<\/a>, is great as well, don’t get us wrong. But we just can’t imagine Best Original Song going to anything else but “Dos Oruguintas.” Besides, who wants to deny Lin of his EGOT?
