July 30, 1958) is a singer and songwriter.<\/li>\n<li>She topped the UK Singles chart in 1978 with &#8220;Wuthering Heights,&#8221; and had a string of hits in the 1980s.<\/li>\n<li>Kate experienced a resurgence in 2022 when\u00a0<em>Stranger Things\u00a0<\/em>used her song, &#8220;Running Up That Hill.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>In 2023, she was inducted into the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-2\">After experiencing a popularity resurgence the likes that have never seen, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/katebushmusic\/\"  target=\"_blank\"  ><strong>Kate Bush <\/strong><\/a>can now call herself a Hall of Famer. On May 3, the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.rockhall.com\/rock-roll-hall-fame-announces-2023-inductees\"  rel=\"nofollow\"  target=\"_blank\"  > announced the class of 2023<\/a>, which included Kate, <strong><a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/tag\/sheryl-crow\/\"  >Sheryl Crow<\/a>, <a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/celeb\/missy-elliott\/\"  >Missy Elliott<\/a>, <a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/celeb\/george-michael\/\"  >George Michael<\/a>, <a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/celeb\/willie-nelson\/\"  >Willie Nelson<\/a>, The Spinners<\/strong>, and <strong>Rage Against The Machine<\/strong>. Hip-hop pioneer <strong>DJ Kool Herc <\/strong>and guitar god <strong>Link Wray <\/strong>were given the Musical Influence Award. The year&#8217;s Musical Excellence Award went to <strong>Chaka Khan, <\/strong>songwriter <strong>Al Kooper, <\/strong>and <strong>Elton John<\/strong>&#8216;s long-term collaborator, <strong>Bernie Taupin<\/strong>. <em>Soul Train<\/em>&#8216;s <strong>Don Cornelius <\/strong>was named the recipient of the Ahmet Ertegun Award.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-3\">\u201cThis year\u2019s incredible group of Inductees reflects the diverse artists and sounds that define rock and roll,\u201d said <strong>John Sykes<\/strong>, Chairman of the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. \u201cWe are honored that this November\u2019s Induction Ceremony in New York will coincide with two milestones in music culture; the 90th birthday of Willie Nelson and the 50th Anniversary of the birth of Hip Hop.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wp43OdtAAkM?version=3&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-4\">Kate Bush was previously nominated in 2018, 2021, and 2022. This induction follows a return to the mainstream, thanks to <em>Stranger Things 4<\/em>. Kate&#8217;s &#8220;Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)&#8221; is featured heavily in the <a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/2022\/05\/27\/stranger-things-finale-ending-vecna-identity-season-4-volume-1\/\"  >fourth season<\/a>, and it definitely got stuck in a few people&#8217;s heads. <a  href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/2022\/05\/27\/soft-cell-marc-almond-interview-music-stranger-things\/\"  >The 1985 single<\/a> climbed to the number one slot on the <a  href=\"http:\/\/www.itunescharts.net\/us\/\"  rel=\"nofollow\"  target=\"_blank\"  >iTunes charts<\/a>\u00a0and topped the charts again in her native U.K. In the U.S. the song reached No. 3 on the <em>Billboard <\/em>Hot 100. (Beverley Goodway\/Shutterstock)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Kate Dropped Her Debut Album In 1978.<\/h2>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-6\">While &#8220;Running Up That Hill&#8221; didn&#8217;t come out until 1985, Kate started her career much earlier! When Kate was a teen, her family helped her produce a demo, which got into the hands of Pink Floyd guitarist\u00a0<strong>David Gilmour,\u00a0<\/strong>who helped her get a record deal. &#8220;He was really responsible for me getting my recording contract with EMI in the first place,&#8221; Kate said in the past, via\u00a0<em><a  href=\"https:\/\/faroutmagazine.co.uk\/david-gilmour-pink-floyd-discovered-kate-bush\/\"  rel=\"nofollow\"  target=\"_blank\"  >Far Out Magazine<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>Kate made her debut in 1978 with\u00a0<em>The Kick Inside<\/em>, which included the classic &#8220;Wuthering Heights,&#8221; and she quickly followed it up with\u00a0<em>Lionheart,\u00a0<\/em>later that same year.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-7\">Now over 40 years later, Kate has 10 albums under her belt, with her most recent being 2011&#8217;s\u00a0<em>50 Words For Snow<\/em>. Similar to her debut, her most recent two albums were both released in 2011, with her dropping\u00a0<em>Director&#8217;s Cut\u00a0<\/em>earlier in the year.<\/p>\n<h2>She&#8217;s Performed With Fellow Music Legends.<\/h2>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-8\">While Kate famously began her career with David Gilmour, she&#8217;s had plenty of other classic rock icons that she&#8217;s gotten a chance to play with. Her 1993 album\u00a0<em>The Red Shoes\u00a0<\/em>featured contributions from rock royalty like\u00a0<strong>Prince, Jeff Beck, <\/strong>and <strong>Eric Clapton.<\/strong> <strong>Elton John <\/strong>also provided guest vocals for 2011&#8217;s &#8220;Snowed In At Wheeler Street.&#8221;\u00a0Of course, David has also lent his guitar skills for her 1989 songs &#8220;Love and Anger&#8221; and &#8220;Rocket&#8217;s Tail.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Her Husband Plays Guitar With Her.<\/h2>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-9\">In 1992, Kate married\u00a0<strong>Dan McIntosh,\u00a0<\/strong>and it&#8217;s clear the two have a creative bond as well as a romantic one. Dan made his earliest contributions to Kate&#8217;s 1993 album\u00a0<em>The Red Shoes<\/em>, and he&#8217;s played guitar on each of Kate&#8217;s albums since then. The song peaked at number 30 on the <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/kate-bush\/chart-history\/hsi\/\"  rel=\"nofollow\"  target=\"_blank\"  >Billboard Hot 100<\/a> charts in 1985. It stayed on the charts from early September of that year, until the end of November. The song was also Kate&#8217;s highest-charting track on the Hot 100 charts.<\/p>\n<h2>She Took A 35-Year Hiatus From Touring.<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4752801\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4752801\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4752801\" src=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/kate-bush-5-things-stranger-things-embed3.jpg?resize=620%2C957\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"957\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4752801\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kate didn&#8217;t perform full concerts after 1979 until a 2014 residency in London. After her first two albums came out in 1978, she embarked on a series of dates throughout Europe called &#8220;The Tour of Life&#8221; in 1979. After that, she stopped touring for a very long time, aside from occasional one-off appearances. She returned to the stage once more in 2014 for a residency at London&#8217;s Hammersmith Apollo, called &#8220;Before The Dawn.&#8221; She opened up about what it was like to get back out there in a 2016 interview with\u00a0<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/music\/features\/kate-bush-exclusive-interview-before-the-dawn-wuthering-heights-a-sky-of-honey-the-ninth-wave-a7436326.html\"  rel=\"nofollow\"  target=\"_blank\"  ><em>The Independent<\/em>.<\/a>\u00a0&#8220;I was very nervous about going onstage and performing. But the response was just beyond anything I could have wished for, every night, the audiences were so excited and so responsive,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-12\">Other than being &#8220;nervous&#8221; for her comeback performance, Kate also explained that she had planned to tour more, but became much more involved in the visual aspects of a record. &#8220;The plan at the time was that I was going to do another two albums\u2019 worth of fresh material, and then do another show.
