Brian Thompson<\/strong><\/a>, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was shot and killed<\/a> in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, on December 4, 2024. Investigators believe the incident was a targeted attack, according to CNN<\/a><\/em>. The 50-year-old was struck in the chest by a bullet fired from about 20 feet away while heading to the Hilton Hotel for the company\u2019s annual investor conference.<\/span><\/p>\n

A statement from a Hilton Hotel representative addressed the tragedy to CNN<\/a><\/em>: \u00a0“We are deeply saddened by this morning\u2019s events in the area and our thoughts are with all affected by the tragedy. Additional questions should be directed to the New York Police Department.”\u00a0<\/span><\/span>In addition, Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny<\/strong> shared with NBC<\/a><\/em>,\u00a0<\/span>“The motive for this murder is currently unknown but based on the evidence we have so far, it does appear the victim was specifically targeted.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
