You don’t have to wait anymore\u2014Obsession<\/em> is now streaming on Peacock after debuting on the platform on July 17, 2026.<\/p>\n

The horror phenomenon arrived on the streaming service much earlier than many fans expected following its blockbuster theatrical run, which saw it earn more than $400 million worldwide on a budget of under $1 million.<\/p>\n

What Is Obsession<\/em> About?<\/h2>\n

As the film’s title proves, someone has an obsession \u2014 but it’s up to the audience to decipher who the real villain of the story is.<\/p>\n

Obsession<\/em> follows Baron “Bear” Bailey, who’s been crushing on his childhood friend and coworker Nikki Freeman. After buying her a “One Wish Willow” gift, Bear wishes for Nikki to love him “more than anything in the f**king world,” only to witness Nikki transform into someone \u2014 or something \u2014 he’s never seen before.<\/p>\n

The movie also features more subtle themes, including consent.<\/p>\n

Actor Michael Johnston<\/strong>, who plays Bear in the film, explained how he and director Barker managed to keep the main character “relatable and likeable, especially when he makes really questionable decisions.”<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was important for me not to try to judge him; I had to stay focused on what his deepest desires were and find the humanity in that,\u201d Johnston told Luxury London<\/em><\/a> following the film’s release. \u201cThat was all intentional. Curry said from the beginning that he did not set out to make Bear a hero. The audience gets to choose where to place him on the spectrum of somewhere between a good guy who made bad decisions or the worst person that has ever existed.\u201d<\/p>\n
