Watch: Australian Comedian Celeste Barber and “Hot Husband” Api Robin Breakup

Celeste Barber and Api Robin are parting ways.

Indeed, the Australian comedian and her longtime partner—who she referred to as “hot husband” throughout her career—have separated after 20 years together, Api announced on social media.

“The past few months have been incredibly challenging and deeply heartbreaking for us both. After much reflection, the decision has been made to separate,” the 52-year-old wrote in a statement titled “heavy hearts” on Instagram Feb. 13. "There is still love and respect between us, but sadly, we are at capacity and have come to recognise we may want different things.”

However, Api noted he and Celeste, 42, are prioritizing their connection with their sons Lou, 14, and Buddy, 11, throughout this process. (Api also has daughters Kyrah and Sahra from a previous relationship.)

He ended the note, “We kindly ask for privacy and understanding as we navigate this.”

While Celeste hasn’t addressed their breakup, she’s offered a look into their decades-long romance over the years––including joking about one of her favorite traits of his in her Netflix comedy special, Fine Thanks.

“I’ll tell you what. My husband is so good in social situations, which really f--ks me off,” she teased in the project. "‘Cause I just don’t think someone who looks that good should also be good at life. Like, pick a lane. But he is. He’s so good socially, it’s like he becomes a conversationalist. Which is interesting because in our marriage, he’s nonverbal yet with complete strangers, he’s Chatty f--king Cathy.”

On a more intimate note, the Wellmania actor shared several photos of her and Api—who dated for nearly a decade before tying the knot in 2013—spending time together in New York last November. The duo left no activity untouched, from sightseeing and holding hands on a train to having dinner with a few friends.

Then, six months earlier, she dedicated “a love letter” to Api on their 12th wedding anniversary.

“WOW. This is fun. I love you,” Celeste wrote in the tribute that month, including numerous photos from their intimate summer wedding in Bali. “This is hard. Thank you. I’m sorry. You’re welcome. We need milk.”
