Nothing 4a smartphone launch confirmed alongside new over-ear Headphone a
It's MWC 26 week and Carl Pei fronted company is using the platform to debut exciting colourful products
If you are in the market for a decent but affordable smartphone, you are probably looking at getting an Android phone. Thanks to so many manufacturers offering devices at various prices, you can usually bag a bargain.
Flying the flag for more affordable Android phones is the Carl Pei company Nothing, whose Phone 3a series won our seal of approval for best budget phones in 2025.

The innovative firm has now revealed the design of its upcoming Nothing Phone 4a in an exciting pink that is the first time the firm has used this vibrant colourway in its product portfolio. It’s believed to be one of four colours in which the new phone will be released on March 5. A white model was previously unveiled. March 5 is smack bang in the middle of MWC 26 week - the world's biggest smartphone trade show will be in full effect in Barcelona.
Other brands showcasing new handsets include Xiaomi, Honor and Samsung. Apple won't be at MWC 26 but is believed to be unveiling a new budget iPhone 17e in the comping days.
Nothing said it believes pink is a nod to tech that’s expressive and optimistic, rather than neutral. It’s a recognition of the role that art, music, fashion and pop culture play in inspiring our design language.
Lucy Birley, Colour Material Finish Design Lead at Nothing, enthused: “There’s a lot of amazing old tech references that we go back to very often.
“Pink is actually just desaturated red. When we put the tint inside our transparency, because of how the light interacts with the resin underneath you get this incredible sense of depth which makes our products look really lively and we do have all of this detail under the transparency, so it’s really nice to celebrate that.”
Phone 4a is set to use a slightly different version of the firm’s renowned Glyph interface, which has used either LED strip lights or a dot matrix display to alert users to notification, timers and other functions.
Before posting the product image, Nothing also revealed that Phone 4a will have a Glyph Bar with “nine individually controllable mini-LEDs, 40 percent brighter than previous A series. Patented tech for a more natural, neutral, bleed-free glow.”
Nothing usually teases out information about its upcoming hardware releases like this to feed the hype machine, and it appears to be working, with comments about the new design and colours flooding its social media channels.
The firm has also announced that Headphone a will be launching on Thursday March 5 alongside Phone 4a.
This will be the brand’s second pair of over-ear headphones. The firm said the new model introduces bold colourways (such as the yellow in this promo image) and will deliver the longest battery life of any Nothing audio product to date.
