Weather expert Alan O'Reilly, who mans the @CarlowWeather account on X, has been keeping a close eye on Debby and posted several updates in recent hours.
"Debby will be moving over very warm waters and in a low-vertical shear environment prior to landfall," he posted. "Therefore significant strengthening is likely through tonight. Debby forecast to become a hurricane before landfall and then shall and dump huge volumes of rain in coming days.
The Irish Department of Foreign Affairs has now updated its travel advice warning Irish people not to travel to Israel.
Mr Martin, who also serves as the Foreign Affairs Minister, said he was "urging citizens to avoid all travel to Israel at this time".
He added: "I also remind citizens to avoid travel to Lebanon."
The Taoiseach tweeted: "Our travel advice for Israel has changed due to growing instability in the region. The government is now advising Irish citizens do not travel to Israel.
"The same advice applies to Lebanon and Palestine."
It was a surprising decision from me, having always said I'd never get married. But he changed my mind on it. Besides, I like wild romance and spontaneity - so a whirlwind wedding it was.
We decided not to tell anyone, simply because it was lovely to keep it to ourselves. The only other person who needed to know was my teenage son, and once he was happy with it, that was enough.
I think most of us overestimate the interest others have in our personal lives. Why would anyone care if I announced I was “engaged to be married”? What would be gained by announcing it, like some sort of Jane Austen character?
"The Taoiseach spoke of Belfast as a city and society that has spent decades working to reject hate, embrace peace, and build respect and inclusivity.
"The Taoiseach also expressed disgust at those flying the Irish tricolour whilst attacking police and spouting racism.
"This is repugnant to everything the Irish flag represents."
There have been a series of anti-immigrant protests and incidents of related violence in the Republic of Ireland in recent months.
Ms O’Neill said: "I briefed An Taoiseach on the totally unacceptable racist attacks on people and businesses in Belfast yesterday.
"We are agreed that co-operation between the PSNI and An Garda Siochana is essential in bringing those responsible for the violence to justice and I urge anyone with information to bring it forward to the police.
"There can be no place for racism, hatred, discrimination and intimidation anywhere in our society.
"I remain resolutely committed to a shared, modern and inclusive society."
“The CRU figures reveal the extent of the pressure households are under. Around 20,420 more households were in debt to electricity companies at the end of April compared to the same point a year ago. This is hugely concerning.”
The CRU also confirmed that 169,640 households were in debt to the gas companies at the end of last April, which is 5,571 more than the year previously.
“Across the State, households are in arrears to energy companies by almost €150 million,” said Mr O'Rourke. “This includes 230,451 electricity customers being behind by €454.97 on average to energy companies. Meanwhile, 170,744 domestic gas customers owe €239.84 each on average.
“Despite the Government energy credits there are even more people in debt now than last year. It is clear theGovernment is not doing enough to support people struggling to pay their energy bills yet energy companies rake in record profits while charging exorbitant fees.”
He said the CRU data also showed small to medium sized businesses are also struggling with 50,828 accounts in arrears – up 20 percent on a year ago.
