BBC One competition series The Apprentice will be back for two more series with Sir Alan Sugar still in charge and firing the entrepreneurs who don't make the cut
The Apprentice will reportedly return for two more series on BBC One with Sir Alan Sugar.
The Sun reports that the BBC One competition series that sees a businessman offer a burgeoning entrepreneur a job in their company will be back for two more series.
Once again Sir Alan Sugar will be back as the face of the UK version of the show as he judges who will best to join.
The series is reported to be filming the two series back-to-back.
A source told the paper: “BBC bosses like what they’ve seen on the upcoming series and want two more."
They added: “The Apprentice was a big miss in the schedules last year, which they think will be reflected in the ratings.
"So they want to strike while the iron’s hot and tie Lord Sugar down for two more series in quick succession, which they hope will have more of an international feel now lockdown restrictions are gradually lifting.”
The Mirror has reached out to the BBC for comment on this story.
The previous series aired back in 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted future series.
The last series was won by Carina Lepore with Scarlett Allen-Horton narrowly missing out as the run’s runner-up.
The Apprentice continues to be a ratings hit for the Beeb, with the last series averaging 7.17million viewers for the channel.
Speaking about the next run to The Sun earlier this year, Sir Alan revealed: “I think you'll see it in the early part of next year, in fact that's the plan,.
"If things go well, and there's no outbreaks or third waves, we're planning to start recording later this year and it should be just after Christmas that they'll start it again."
