BBC's Normal People to return for two specials after series breaks records
After the enormous success of the first series, Normal People is set to return to screens for two upcoming specials
Normal People is set to return for a further two specials following the enormous success of the first show.
The BBC Three show has had viewers hooked ever since the teenage drama was released at the start of April.
The show is based on a bestselling novel of the same name written by Sally Rooney and follows the story of two students Connell (Paul Mescal) and Marianne (Daisy Edgar-Jones).
The two upcoming specials will air on June 26 on RTÉ Does Comic Relief in Ireland.
Fans can also breathe a sigh of relief in knowing that actors Paul and Daisy will return for the upcoming shows, as well as director Lenny Abrahamson.

Comic Relief's co-founder Richard Curtis confirmed the exciting news when speaking to RTÉ radio.
He also teased some exciting features, including a 40 year jump into the future.
"There's a beautiful piece called Normal Older People, which is imagining what would have happened to Marianne and Connell 40 years from now."

"I promise you, these are two very special bits. It's so much better than anything we've ever made."
He continued: "I mean I can't even say all about it because there's a guest star in it. But it's really, it's really beautiful."
The organiser also praised Comic Relief over the opportunities that the organisation has provided.
"One of the things about Comic Relief is it just gives opportunities for things to happen that would never happen."
"I can't imagine any context in which they would have allowed this little sort of extra special into the world of Normal People," he concluded.

Normal People has become the most viewed show to air on BBC Three ever.
Although the show was aimed at a viewing audience of under 25s, the 12-part drama has also attracted an older audience that were captivated by the sentiment of first love that is portrayed in the show.
