Channel 4 documentary confronts the ‘ethics’ of ‘black alien’ body modification journey
A new documentary will allow viewers to get to know French extreme surgery and tattoo enthusiast Anthony Loffredo - who believes he is an alien and has covered his body in tattoos
A new documentary has vowed to explore the extreme surgeries that a man has undergone in his pursuit to look like an alien.
Channel 4’s The Black Alien Project will introduce viewers to Anthony Loffredo - a man who claims he has covered his body in black ink tattoos, cut a hole in his chin, tattooed his eyes and cut his tongue so it is forked.
The 33-year-old Frenchman, who believes he was born in the wrong body, has also had fingers, his ears and nose surgically removed and plans even more extreme procedures in order to create the body he wants.
Documentarian Arthur Bruel spent ‘a lot of time’ with Anthony in order to understand and record his life - with the documentary due to air on Channel 4 on Sunday night.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Arthur said: “When I first got in touch with Anthony to see if he'd be interested in talking with me about his extraordinary life, I could never have imagined that I'd end up travelling to Mexico, spending so much time with him, and forming a remarkable bond that gave me an eye-opening insight into why Anthony and others modify their bodies to such a striking extent.
“This documentary raises questions about the ethics of plastic surgery and its impact on our society, and also explores the importance of self-acceptance and the right to self-determination.
“But in the main, it tells the true, unfiltered story – not of a 'black alien' – but of Anthony Loffredo, the real human being behind the headlines.”
Anthony himself has previously addressed the extreme measures he has gone to in order to craft the body he feels reflects his true image - and how he is aware his appearance can leave some feeling unsettled.
He told LadBible: “There are people that said thanks to me as they feel more secure now. That now the looks they get from other people, don't bother them.”
“If I want to eat at a restaurant, sometimes the server says I can't eat on the terrace.”
He also revealed previously that he has struggled to find work after changing his appearance to such an extreme degree.
He told Club 113: “I can't find a job, there's lots of negative stuff. It could be positive because you feel better, but you have to know there's also a dark side.”
He has also explained that he plans to undergo further extreme surgeries to achieve the look he wants.
Having already had two fingers surgically removed from his left hand, Anthony plans to remove the same two from his right hand in order to have matching ‘claw’-like hands.
He also hopes to have a leg medically amputated and replaced with a robotic replacement.
Further to this, the surgery enthusiast has also explained that he one day hopes to remove the skin from his body and have it replaced with a metal layer.
