Channel 4 are set to launch a music competition for the first time ever which will rival The X Factor .
Simon Cowell's ITV show has seen plummeting ratings in recent years but bosses at Channel 4 look set to put their own spin on the genre as they look for the next generation of songwriters rather than singers.
Wannabe writers will have to battle it out in a bid to get their song released by a big name.
Songwriters will have to audition in front of a daunting panel of the industry's biggest producers.

Maroon 5's Adam Levine, Eurythmics musician Dave Stewart and OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder have helped create the show, of which there is already a US version set to be aired on NBC.
UK auditions will begin next month.
A source told The Sun : "The songwriters each perform to a different big music star, and each will choose one song to release as their next song.

"Industry insiders believe this is the best show since X Factor."
They added that viewers would also be able to see songwriters negotiate with artists who are performing their songs.
The insider also revealed that producers are expecting "diva behaviour" from songwriters and stars.
"It’s set to be a fascinating insight into what goes on behind the scenes of putting a single together before the big release date," they added.
