Devastating It's A Sin scene made Olly Alexander cry so hard filming had to be stopped
As the final episode of Russell T. Davies' It's A Sin arrives on Channel 4 tonight, there was one scene in particular that left star Olly Alexander utterly devastated
Olly Alexander has revealed one scene of It's A Sin left him so emotional that filming had to be stopped.
The Years and Years singer, 30, has won a whole new legion of fans for his performance as naive but vibrant gay teen Ritchie Tozer in the hit Channel 4 drama series from Queer As Folk writer Russell T. Davies.
Now peaking to The New York Times, Olly has revealed that one scene left him so emotional that he couldn't contain the tears.
He revealed: "I was a complete mess after the first take, I was sobbing."
Olly recalled how series director Peter Hoar had to pause filming of the scene in question.

The publication reveals that the scene refers to a scene from episode 4, which took place after Ritchie and his friends were arrested for their protesting against the UK government's inaction regarding the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
This seems to refer to the powerful scene where Ritchie finally reveals to his friends that he is HIV positive but affirms "I'm gonna live".
In the same interview, Olly discussed how pleased he was that the show had contributed to a record uptake in HIV tests according to the sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust.

He said: “People living with H.I.V. now can live normal, healthy lives: It’s so important to get that message out.
"I'm really grateful that these conversations are happening, because, honestly, lots of people really didn't know what was going on in this period of history.
"They're shocked to learn about it now.”

The fifth and final episode of It's A Sin airs tonight on Channel 4 and sees Ritchie face up to the reality of his diagnosis, but will he come clean to his family including mother Valerie ( Keeley Hawes )?
Tissues may be needed for these emotional final scenes!
