The merger of Fox with Disney could spell the end of the long running cartoon as the show isn't considered 'family-friendly'

One of the most recognisable voices in cartoon history has claimed that The Simpsons could be facing the axe, over 30 years since it first appeared.
The long running TV show may be coming to an end after Fox merged with Disney and one of the show's stars fears it won't sit well with the 'family friendly' view of the Walt Disney company.
Fortunately, there will be no imminent changes as Fox has renewed the cartoon for two more series, which will see new episodes until 2021.
Disney has allegedly decided to cancel any shows that don't fit its 'family orientated' policy, leaving a number of current Fox shows worried that they have no long term future.

Yeardley Smith, who is the voice of Lisa Simpson has told Hollywood Reporter that she expects Disney to 'cancel' the show, rather than 'altering its legacy'.
She said: "When you're dealing with something that is still so culturally relevant, and sort of such a pillar of our culture...
"If you're going to mess with that, that's some pretty risky territory.

“So my feeling is — and I could be completely wrong — is that they would cancel it before they would change it [creatively]."
Creators of The Simpsons have already taken action to axe an episode titled Stark Raving Dad, which featured Michael Jackson.

After the revelations of child sex abuse that were alleged by Wade Robson and James Safechuck in controversial HBO documentary Leaving Neverland, it was thought appropriate that his Simpsons appearance was pulled from their roster.
Disney is yet to discuss the future of the show, so fans of the cartoon will be left in suspense, waiting for a decision as to whether new episodes will be made beyond 2021.
