Trigger Point viewers switch off 'dull' drama and claim 'Tipping Point is more exciting'

Trigger Point viewers were left “disappointed” on Sunday night after the premiere of ITV ’s new bomb disposal drama left some comparing it to gameshow Tipping Point.
Line of Duty’s Vicky McClure returned to our screens this weekend in Trigger Point - a new six part drama for ITV.
While the series promised high-octane drama from operative Lana Washington, played by Vicky, viewers were left disappointed and criticised the series as “slow”.
Audiences watched as the Metropolitan Police bomb disposal squad responded to an imminent terrorist threat in London, but as the hour unfolded audiences took to Twitter threatening to turn the drama off.
One viewer even compared Trigger Point to Tipping Point, saying the game show was “more exciting”.
They wrote: "#TriggerPoint flip me #tippingpoint is more exciting."
One viewer wrote: “Think #TriggerPoint is bombing. Hardly the explosive stuff we were promised.”
Another said: “I love Line of Duty and Jed Mecurio work. Love it. But this Trigger Point is so incredibly slow and boring so far. #TriggerPoint”
A third wrote: “Is anyone else watching #TriggerPoint on ITV tonight as it seems very slow getting into??”
Another viewed chimed in: “#TriggerPoint lost interest in this already, shame as was hopeful of better things.”
The comments kept coming, with another reading: “Right that’s enough! Let’s vote with the remote. Not wasting another minute on this tripe #TriggerPoint” as another agreed: “That’s it.....I’m out!! Can’t do this anymore! The boredom is affecting my health! #TriggerPoint”
As Vicky's character Lana deactivated one bomb after another alongside colleague Joel Nutkins, played by Adrian Lester, viewers also criticised the placements of adverts between the drama.
One viewer wrote: “This is a huge disappointment and the adverts are absolutely killing it. #TriggerPoint"
Another said: “The suspense doesn’t quite flow when an advert pops up every five minutes.”
However, the show packed a punch in its final moments as a mammoth explosion detonated, throwing debris and smoke into the air - and leaving one character’s fate uncertain.
The closing moments of the episode saw Vicky’s character Lana crawling towards injured Joel, played by Adrian - with viewers left uncertain of whether he had survived the impact.
The new drama consists of six episodes, which will air throughout January and February.
