While high pressure is set to bring predominantly settled conditions to Ireland for the foreseeable future, Met Eireann has warned that there is the risk of thunderstorms on the cards.
The national forecaster has pinpointed tomorrow night, Friday April 24, as a potential outlier when we could face thunderstorm activity in western areas.
This coincides with the trend of temperatures dropping to close to freezing overnight this week as lows of 2C are forecast for most nights over the coming days.

Of Friday night, a Met Eireann forecaster said it will be "dry and clear for most. Cloudier in the southwest, and possibly the west, with showers, some heavy with thunderstorms possible. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees for most, milder in the southwest, in light easterly or variable breezes."
Other than the occasional shower, Met Eireann anticipates largely dry and settled conditions with mostly light breezes and it will continue to feel milder for this time of year.
Today, Thursday April 23, will see highs of 18C though, again, it could drop to lows of 2C overnight.
Met Eireann's forecast reads: "Dry today with spells of hazy sunshine. Highest temperatures of 13 to 18 degrees, warmest in the west, with a moderate, occasionally fresh, southeasterly wind.
"Dry with long clear spells tonight. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees generally in light to moderate east or southeast winds. It will be a little milder in the southwest where winds will be fresher.

"Dry and sunny for most tomorrow. Cloud will build later in the southwest with the possibility of some showers there, some of which could be heavy or thundery. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees generally, a little cooler near eastern and southern coasts, in mostly light to moderate southeasterly winds, continuing fresher in the southwest."
