And most recently, Ciara Miller in a revenge bra and maxi skirt look to film the "Summer House" ten reunion after Scamanda, when Miller's best friend Amanda Batula secretly started dating her on-again, off-again ex-boyfriend West Wilson.

The revenge look isn't a new phenomenon, but it remains at the forefront of everyone's minds. Inspired by the black mini worn by the Princess of Wales in the 1990s, the modern revenge look is fashion at its most communicative. It's bold, fitted in silhouette, and red or black or cream in color. It boasts plunging necklines and conspicuous cutouts, high splits and open backs. It's a comeback story, rendered sartorially.

Despite the revenge look's enduring legacy, I always felt uneasy about it. How vengeful is a sultry outfit anyway? A better act of revenge would be, well, cheating back, as Chloe Bailey sings. What's more, the concept of "revenge dressing" frames a woman's wardrobe and appearance as her primary weapons of power. What about revenge accomplishments? Revenge art? Revenge careers? Why is it that - after a woman's been wronged - the statement that really makes an impact revolves around how she looks?

I'm also not sold on the idea of dressing with the offending party in mind. Fashion is such a personal, intimate act for me; I get dressed based on my mood, my desires, my social calendar for the week. I don't want that process to be hijacked by someone else, let alone someone who caused me harm.

My revenge dress story is pretty typical. Several years ago, pre-pandemic, I found myself on the verge of a break up. We had been so in sync; we had amazing chemistry; we saw a future together with kids, pets, and even a few business ventures. But when I signed into his Netflix account, of all things, I saw a newly-created profile bearing another woman's name - someone he'd visited once to help her fix a broken water pipe, allegedly. I inquired about it, and our relationship quickly unraveled from there. He was belligerent and I was crushed. And the New Year's Eve party invite I had accepted a few days prior hung in the balance.

I was not in the mood to dress up and be around people. But then I reconsidered; I usually enjoy a night of revelry and I refused to let him take that away from me. I landed on a dress that encapsulated that mood perfectly. A sequin micro mini with exaggerated sleeves and a plunging neckline. It was just the boost I needed to feel like myself again.

It's the same energy Tina Turner emanated when she stepped out in 1986 after leaving her abusive marriage. She donned a skin-tight leather Azzedine Alaïa gown with four cutouts down the side, her hair in a blonde spiky mullet. Stars Used the Met Gala 2026 Red Carpet to Celebrate Black Art

The 2026 Met Gala asked a simple question: is fashion art? Tied to the Costume Institute's "Costume Art" exhibition, celebrities like co-chair Beyoncé, Met Gala veterans Rihanna and Janelle Monáe, as well as breakout star Chase Infiniti all showed up ready to prove the point, each channeling their inner art connoisseur. But some took it a step further and used the opportunity to put Black art front and center on the Met steps. It's a welcome gesture after the 2025 Met Gala theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," which celebrated Black designers. The continuation sends the message that our identity is more than just a passing trend.

Beyoncé wore a custom design by Olivier Rousteing and Tschabalala Self wore Brandon Blackwood, while Amy Sherald - known for her 2018 portrait of Michelle Obama - collaborated with Thom Browne on a blue gown with red accents inspired by her painting "Miss Everything (Unsuppressed Deliverance)." Black art wasn't just included in the exhibit (represented by Telfar bags in various skin-tone hues and African antiquities) - it was all over the carpet.

Serving as co-chair this year, Venus Williams took the "fashion is art" brief literally, wearing a black gown dripping in Swarovski crystals that was inspired by a 2022 portrait of her at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery, painted by Bronx artist Robert Pruitt.

Angela Bassett followed a similar path, mirroring Harlem Renaissance painter Laura Wheeler Waring's "Girl in Pink Dress" in a pink floral appliqué Prabal Gurung gown.

Everyone's favorite image architect Law Roach (sans Zendaya) also went for the physical art angle, wearing a custom collaboration between AMI and Gabonese artist Naïla Opiangah, a white suit with painted bodies.

Some stars expressed their appreciation for Black art through their glam, using hair and makeup as a canvas. Gabrielle Union, in a sequined brown form-fitting Michael Kors dress, wore her hair in large, doubled crowns as an homage to photographer Kwame Brathwaite, a key figure in the "Black Is Beautiful" movement of the 1960s. His work celebrated Black women, natural hair, and beauty during a time of racial unrest and narrow beauty standards.

Ciara took a similar approach, channeling Egyptian queen Nefertiti in an embellished gold gown with matching accessories. The pièce de résistance was a gilded, sculptural hair moment created by Cesar Ramirez and inspired by Nefertiti's iconic crown.

It's powerful to see Black Met Gala guests using their platforms to highlight Black art in such a visible way. It's also a notable shift that celebrities took representation into their own hands this year, a divergence from the year prior when the museum, its curators, and the gala planning committee all championed Black designers and artists.

Either way, by the end of the night, it was clear that Black art was, is, and always will be the moment.

Met Gala season is upon us. The annual event takes place on the first Monday in May (May 4, 2026 this year) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, following its traditional calendar. We know the Met Gala is a whirlwind of fashion, beauty, imagination, and creativity so it's fair if you have lots of questions about the iconic event. If you're wondering "What is the Met Gala?" or "What happens at the Met Gala?" don't worry, we have a quick rundown of everything you need to know. Starting with the basics, you may or may not know that Condé Nast's Chief Content Officer Anna Wintour has been cochairing the Met Gala since 1999, and she's the backbone of fashion's biggest night.

Wintour has run the Met Gala since 1995, and continues to make it one of the most noteworthy celebrations of art and fashion. And behind all the glitz and glamour on the red carpet, there's a curated exhibit for attendees (and eventually the public) to enjoy. The Met Gala 2026 theme centers around "Costume Art" and the relationship between fashion and the dressed body. The exhibit, which runs from May 10, 2026 through Jan. 10, 2027, includes pieces from designers like Thom Browne, Robert Wun, Christian Louboutin, and Telfar, and incorporates sections on skin, the disabled body, the plus-size body (referred to as "corpulent" which has sparked some controversy), and more.

The gala's theme is "Fashion Is Art" and encourages wearers to celebrate the connection between the two with designs that reference anything from paintings to sculptures to photographs. And several celebrities took the opportunity to highlight Black art, taking representation into their own hands after 2025's "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" theme.

The co-chairs for the 2026 Met Gala included Beyoncé, Venus Williams, Nicole Kidman, and of course, Anna Wintour. In another bout of controversy, Lauren Sánchez Bezos along with husband Jeff Bezos served as honorary co-chairs and lead sponsors, though Sánchez Bezos walked the red carpet solo. If there's any time to stock up on '90s basics, it's during festival season . . . and if there's any brand to satisfy customers looking for an affordable price point, it's Guess. While there are plenty of over-the-top Coachella looks floating around TikTok - consisting of strappy bikini tops, voluminous hair extensions, and several pounds of body chains - some celebrities are making the case for a minimalist wardrobe this year.

From Hailey Bieber in her little slip dress and jet-black sunglasses to Kendall Jenner in rolled denim cutoffs, a white ribbed tank, and baseball cap, it's clear that sometimes less is more in the desert (or anywhere there's a music festival).

Chalk it up to renewed interest in Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's style, or perhaps we were all on the same wavelength, but senior style director Jessica Andrews and I felt that same influence. We selected pieces from Guess's Festival edit not just for the weekend, but for the long term. Our shoulder bags, embellished with Guess's iconic hardware, scream summer in their own ways, be it the dopamine hit of marigold or the raffia texture. And Jess's suede cowboy boots are clearly appropriate for all seasons.

Another detail we both appreciated from our selections? The functionality. My jeans were incredibly comfortable without feeling stiff - the type you're totally OK to walk miles in - and Jess's bomber jacket kept her warm during the inevitable temperature dip at night.

For spring 2026 fashion trends, designers are focused on expanding classic silhouettes and colors to uncharted territory - a soft departure from the over-the-top aesthetic we saw dominate the spring 2025 season. For the New York Fashion Week shows that ran from Sept. 11 to Sept. 17, designers provided a treasure trove of inspiration for our wardrobes this spring, and fortunately, you can start wearing these trends immediately.

The most prominent fashion houses enlisted major stars to wear their designs for the upcoming season, including "Love Island USA" star Olandria Carthen, who walked Sergio Hudson's runway in cheetah-print separates. Other models like Slick Woods strutted in LaQuan Smith's edgy, car-inspired show in an oversize orange coat and red boots, showcasing the power of bold color. Amid a week of near-arctic temperatures in the city that never sleeps, New York Fashion Week brought vibrance and energy that kicked off Fashion Month with a bang. Strong Fall 2026 trends are emerging that represent a healthy mix of minimalism and maximalism, be it in silhouette, color, or detail.

From textured detailing to pops of cherry red, New York Fashion Week's Fall 2026 shows were both a celebration of creativity and a return to classic elements of fall/winter dressing. It was the perfect balance of playful yet timeless design flourishes.

Though American designers went full force with oversized shapes, light-catching crystals, and more, it was all juxtaposed with more practical roots. Be it a skirt set from Coach in powerful color combinations, commanding hats from Advisry that serve as the ultimate cozy accessory, or lace-up dresses from Jane Wade that offer a true edgy sophistication, the balance was palpable.

Everything to Know About the "Love Is Blind" Engagement Rings

If you're a fan of Netflix's "Love Is Blind," then you may be curious about the engagement rings, which are either chosen on set or brought in (Kyle Abrams presented his mom's ring to Shaina Hurley during US season two, for example).

Knowing that on "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette," the jewelry is entirely provided by Neil Lane, you have to wonder how much shopping the men on "LIB" could possibly be getting done outside of the pods while they're holed up from the outside world.

What's more, if you're looking closely, you may notice similarities in some of the women's engagement rings. In fact, in US season one, it appeared Lauren Speed, Jessica Batten, and Amber Pike wore identical rings following their proposals.

According to "LIB" production company, Kinetic Content, all the men are presented with dozens of rings to choose from (Netflix said that in seasons four and five, they were all courtesy of Bridal Rings Co.), unless they brought their own. "Whatever they choose, we pay for. Whatever we pay for, they keep, regardless of engagement ending," a Kinetic representative says. And even though you might recognize similar elements on some designs - like diamond carat size, band embellishment, and setting - no two styles are exactly the same.

Kinetic even shared that in US season two, the men proposing discussed their choices together, so the rings felt unique to each recipient. Of course, there are fans who believe the women should be able to choose their preferred style before heading into the pods. That became a major issue in US season two, when Mallory Zapata ended up with a silver ring picked by Salvador Perez, instead of her preferred choice of gold. Perhaps the producers will find a way for both contestants to join the ring-selection process in future seasons.
