Stop, Drop, and Shop! Pull Off Red Hot Mascara Like Solange

Turn away too fast and you might miss the best thing about Solange Knowles's MTV VMAs style: her red hot lashes! At first glance, the singer's makeup seemed basic — a nude lip and Diana Ross curls — but her fancy flutter turned the look from average to avant-garde. We saw a similar style on the Spring 2013 Donna Karan runway (pictured below), and you can easily re-create it at home. First, apply a layer of regular black mascara. Then add a few coats of a colored formula (brands like Butter London and Ciaté make it). If you can't find the shade you want, you can also use a highly pigmented powder on your strands or just grab a strip of Halloween falsies.
