Released only this past October, legal drama Goliath is already Amazon's "top-binged" series, and it's earned Thornton a Golden Globe!

Loosely based on Philip K. Dick's 1962 novel of the same name, The Man in the High Castle is an alternate history drama that depicts what life would be like had the Axis powers won WWII. The United States has been divided into three parts: the Japanese Pacific States, the Greater Nazi Reich, and a neutral territory. The egregious laws, heavy persecution, and strict censorship (including that of the Bible and certain types of music) are just a few of the things that lead to underground movements, double agents, and dangerous attempts to undermine the government. After just one season, Rolling Stone named The Man in the High Castle one of "the best science fiction television shows of all time."

This past year, women in Hollywood have been speaking out against injustices in the industry, as well as demanding equal pay to that of their male costars. Based on the novel of the same name by Lynn Povich, Good Girls Revolt focuses on the same issues — just in a different industry and time period.

The historical drama follows three young women who work as researchers at a news magazine in 1969. Despite their talent, their potential is often overlooked and they're forced to do menial tasks, while unqualified men are given all of the opportunities. After discovering that their work has gone uncredited and that they are being paid significantly less than their male co-workers, a fire ignites within them, sparking aspirations that rebel against the gender hierarchy of the late 1960s. Although the series received positive reviews from critics, Amazon canceled Good Girls Revolt after just one season. Fortunately, it's being shopped around elsewhere and a second season may be available sooner than you think!

Starring TV veterans Ron Perlman and Dana Delany, Hand of God centers on a corrupt judge who, after suffering a mental breakdown, believes that God is pushing him to pursue a path of vigilante justice. Judge Purnell Harris's family is torn apart when his son attempts suicide after being forced to watch the rape of his wife, Jocelyn (Alona Tal). When Purnell discovers that the attack was actually ordered and not random, he does whatever it takes to avenge his daughter-in-law and quickly becomes unhinged. His wife and friends become concerned and distant, while his new friends (a con man turned revered and not-so-reformed criminal) grow dangerously close. Though Hand of God will end after season two, it's still worth checking out.

Stand-up comedian Tig Notaro stars in the semi-autobiographical dark comedy series One Mississippi. Tig plays a radio host recovering from breast cancer who returns to her home of Bay St. Lucille, MS, to say goodbye to her dying mother. After her death, Tig stays in town — alongside her brother and stepfather — to learn more about her mother's life, as well as make changes to her own. Her health, career, and romantic relationship waver, but her attachment to Mississippi remains steadfast.

Comedy series Red Oaks revolves around David Myers (Craig Roberts), a young college student in the 1980s who spends his Summers working as a tennis instructor at a prestigious New Jersey country club (called Red Oaks). He befriends his zany co-workers, copes with his parents' failing marriage, and finds himself in bizarre situations when dealing with club members, including being hired to film a sex tape for middle-aged swingers. Furthermore, despite having a girlfriend, he begins to fall for Skye (Alexandra Socha), the club president's daughter. Now, David must discover who he really is, what he wants, and how he fits into the world outside of Red Oaks.

Formally Morton Pfefferman, Maura (played by the talented Jeffrey Tambor) has to navigate her new world and adapt to living life as a woman. Meanwhile, her children and ex-wife must adjust to her transition, as well as deal with their own drama, including perpetual unemployment, a failed marriage, and a pathological inability to form a meaningful romantic relationship. Before you know it, Maura isn't the only Pfefferman spilling secrets. Transparent was the first Amazon series to receive a major award, as well as the first ever show from a streaming service to win a Golden Globe for best series.
