The Flash's Archnemesis Surfaces in Action-Packed Pictures From the Set

The Flash premiered this week to insanely high ratings, and the show is keeping the action rolling on set. New pictures from the Vancouver set show Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin) getting beat up by his archnemesis Reverse Flash, also known as Professor Zoom, also known as Eddie Thawne. (Comics are complicated.) These are stunt doubles, of course, but Reverse Flash is played by Rick Cosnett (The Vampire Diaries) on the show. The Flash is currently filming its midseason finale, which means we won't get to see this epic fight play out on the small screen for a while. Check it out!

OK, so this is Reverse Flash.

His real name is Eobard Thawne, aka Eddie Thawne.

He's also known as Professor Zoom, in the comic-book world.

He's actually from the future, like the 25th century.

And he can time travel, obviously.

He's the yellow flash we see in the the first episode, the one who murders Barry's mother.

He's what you might call a "supervillian."

This battle looks epic.

But Barry has to prevail, right?

Obviously these are stunt doubles, but Cosnett also stars on The Vampire Diaries as Dr. Wes Maxfield.

He's a CW superstar.

Who even knows what's happening here.
