Self-Care Sunday: Foam Rolling Is the Post-Workout Practice I Need Now More Than Ever
There's been a lot of talk about self-care while we're staying at home, and that doesn't have to mean spending a ton of money on a treatment or product you feel indifferent about just because you saw it on Instagram. Self-care literally means taking care of yourself, and with everything going on in the world, we could all use a little TLC. I've been working out a bunch over the last couple of months. It's a really good stress reliever for me, and helps me fill my days with something other than work and binge-watching Succession. But two-a-day workouts have been intense on my body, so after a particularly grueling hike, I pulled out my 321 Strong Foam Roller ($27), and it was the best thing I did all week.
Foam rolling is one of those things I know I should be doing but never actually do. I don't know if it was desperation or curiosity that made me reach for the product, but I rolled out my muscles for about 15 minutes and immediately felt a difference in my body. The stiff achiness I had grown accustomed to was gone, and it felt like a real treat to my body — though, full disclosure, it's not always comfortable while you're doing it. Now, I kind of crave it, so much so that I'm going to foam roll right after I finish writing this. Take care of your body by indulging it in a foam-rolling session.
