20 Years Later, This Guy Got a Heartfelt Apology From His Former Bully

Sometimes, an apology isn't too little or too late.

Earlier this month, ChadMichael Morrisette received a Facebook message from one of his junior high school bullies. Morrisette is now a 34-year-old visual designer, but when he was growing up in Alaska, he was constantly bullied by his classmates. "It wasn't one guy. It was six or seven guys who would follow me in the hallways, harassing me, insulting me, threatening my life," he told Yahoo.

On May 5, one of those guys reached out to him through a Facebook message. Louie Amundson said he wanted to apologize after his daughter asked if he'd ever bullied anyone and he thought about how he had tormented Morrisette. "It doesn't excuse my behavior as a child in any way, but as an adult it's the best I can do to try to make it up to him," he said.

Morrisette said after he received the note, he cried. "It unlocked something in me I didn't realize I'd been holding onto," he told Yahoo. As for Amundson, knowing that Morrisette forgives him is a huge relief. "I owed him that apology, he did not owe me his forgiveness," he said. "The fact that he was able to forgive me showed that I may have been the bigger kid, but he is the bigger man."
